Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite May Launch After All, On August 11

If a new report from Korea Herald is to be believed (who got its information from “industry sources”), the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite may launch after all, on August 11. That means it will arrive alongside its siblings, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, and some other devices.

For those of you who are out of the loop, August 11 has been reported to be the date of Samsung’s next Unpacked event. In addition to the three foldables we’ve mentioned, the Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 4 Classic, and Buds 2 are expected to launch.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite may launch alongside its siblings on August 11

Now, the ‘Lite’ Galaxy Z Flip phone has been reported, recently, as being cancelled. That information came from a well-known source, Ross Young, a display analyst. Well, Korea Herald’s report says something completely different. It is worth noting that Mr. Young reported the ‘Galaxy Z Flip Lite’ as being cancelled, this Z Flip 3 Lite device may be something brand new, something we haven’t heard about thus far.

It claims that the phone will launch on August 11. It also says that the said date is not set in stone. It’s almost certain that the event will take place on August 11, though. Not only did the date appear on a leaked Galaxy Z Flip 3 render, but it was also mentioned in a recent report from Korea, and confirmed by a well-known tipster.

The device will be available “with a more affordable price tag”

The source says that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Lite will launch “with a more affordable price tag”, as it will be a “mass-market model”. No additional information was shared when it comes to this device.

If that handset does become a reality, we’re expecting it to be similar to the Galaxy Z Flip. It will likely have a smaller ‘cover’ display than the Z Flip 3, and probably an inferior main display. We’re only guessing, but Samsung has to cut corners somewhere.

Just to be clear, the Galaxy S21 FE will not launch on August 11. That device has, allegedly, been postponed to October. The chip shortage is to blame for that, by the way. Even without it, though, Samsung is bringing plenty of devices to make the event more than interesting.
