July Update Released To Galaxy S20 & Note 10 Smartphones

Samsung has started rolling out the July 2021 Android security update to the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 10 series. Both 4G and 5G variants of the phones are now picking up the latest security maintenance releases (SMR) in various countries around the world.

The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra are receiving the July security update with firmware version G98xxXXU8DUF9. The update is currently available for download in Germany only but should reach more territories in the coming days.

The changelog is seemingly copied from the previous security releases. However, judging by the build number as well as the size of the over the air (OTA) download file (815MB for the S20 Ultra 5G), there could be more to it. Samsung had last month said that the July update will fix the Android Auto-related issues on its smartphones. So those fixes should be part of this release. We will let you know if there’s anything else as well.

The new update for the Galaxy Note 10 series, meanwhile, might not include much else apart from the latest SMR and the aforementioned Android Auto fixes. As for the contents of this month’s security patch, we don’t have any information either. Samsung has yet to publish the new security bulletin.

Anyways, the latest update for the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ is rolling out with the firmware version N97xxXXS7FUF5 and is already available in dozens of markets across the world, including in Asia, Europe, and Africa. It should expand to more regions in the coming days.

More Samsung Galaxy devices pick up the July 2021 security update

As has become the norm in recent years, Samsung is once again leading the charge for Android OEMs with the latest SMRs. The Korean firm was the first to release the July 2021 Android security patch to its devices when it rolled out the new update to the Galaxy S10 series last week, even before we entered the current month.

Since then, the latest Android SMR has reached the Galaxy Tab Active 2, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Tab A 8.0, and now, the Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Note 10 series. If you own any of these devices, you can check if the update has reached your device through the Settings app. Navigate to the Software update menu and tap Download and install. If there’s no update available, do not worry. It should show up in the coming weeks.
