OnePlus has released a new software update to the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. The update bumps the OxygenOS version to 188.8.131.52 and brings several system and camera improvements as well as optimizations to the device.
According to the official changelog, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G is getting improvements to the face unlocking feature with the latest update. The unlocking process should now feel faster and smoother. The update also improves the charging speed, though it’s unclear if there’s a significant change in the overall charging time.
In terms of camera-related improvements, OnePlus is promising reduced noise in dark areas of Nightscape photos. The photos should now appear more natural with lesser artifacts. The selfie camera is getting some performance improvements as well.
The new Nord phone is also picking up some optimizations for the video call experience. Last but not least, OnePlus says it has fixed known issues in the device and improved the system stability as well.
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G picks its second software update since launch
This is the second software update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G since it launched last month. The first update, which rolled out just a few days after the phone arrived in the market, introduced a few camera and display related enhancements. Another update now aims to further improve the user experience with multiple optimizations.
And by the looks of it, OnePlus has succeeded in that. Several users on the official community forum are reporting that the latest update significantly improves the camera and UI aspects of the new Nord phone. “The UI is much smoother,” one user said, while another added it “feels more snappy”. One more user suggested that the UI is now more responsive than before, with most of the unexpected lags and stutters gone. Camera improvement is also evident, though there’s always room for improvement there.
Nonetheless, if you own the OnePlus Nord CE 5G, the latest update is now rolling out in an incremental manner globally. Meaning, it will be initially available for a small group of users. Once OnePlus confirms that the new software is bug-free, it will roll out the update widely. The firmware version for this update is 184.108.40.206.EB13DA for the Indian market, 220.127.116.11.EB13AA for the European market, and 18.104.22.168.EB13BA for the North American region.
The over the air (OTA) update weighs in at 172MB for the Indian variant of the phone. It should be a similar-sized download in other regions as well. The latest update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G also bundles the June 2021 Android security patch.
