We’ve known that Google was planning on opening up a permanent store location to sell its products. The company made a formal announcement last month about its plans. Thanks to 9To5Google, we now know that the new Google Store will be opening up on June 17th.
The New Google Store will offer the latest Google tech plus tech support onsite
The location for this store on the corner of W15th street and 9th avenue in New York. Though Google has had some temporary popup locations in the past to peddle its Pixel products, this location, located in the Chelsea neighborhood, is the company’s first permanent location. Google says that one reason as to why it chose the “Big Apple” is because it’s home to 11,000+ Google employees.
As to be expected, Google will be selling the latest and greatest products from the company at the store. This means that we can expect the Pixel 5, Pixel buds, Pixel buds A, Nest Hub 2nd Gen, Fitbit Versa 3, and other products to decorate the shelves come June 17th. Consumers can realistically expect devices from a generation back as well.
What’s neat about the New Google Store is that the Pixel 6 phones will most likely land there first. Folks who live in that area can grab the newest Pixel phones on day one.
Google will have tech support onsite to help with any issues
Google boasts that it will have tech support staff members onsite to assist customers with any problems that they may have. The company hasn’t stated just how in-depth they will be able to get with the devices. We’re not sure if they’ll be able to help with major software and hardware hitches or if they’ll only be able to cover the basics. In any case, it’s nice to know that help will be around.
What’s more significant than the tech support is the screen repair service. In the announcement, Google stated that there will be staff that will help with cracked screens. Again, the company hasn’t elaborated on just how in-depth the staff members will be able to get. They might be able to help replace the screen, but the jury is out on whether they will be able to replace the digitizer if that gets damaged.
Google has safety protocols in place in response to Covid-19
Though we’ve made strides in combatting the Covid-19 pandemic, there are still safety protocols and regulations that need to be followed. Google stated that it will be taking the regulations very seriously. As with most stores that are operating today, the New Google Store will have a mask mandate.
Along with that, the store will be providing hand sanitizer. As an added measure, every surface will be wiped down thoroughly every day. There will also be a limited number of people who can be in the store at one time. The store will be opening up on Thursday, June 17th, at 10 am EST.
